Western Australia Common Law

Peacekeepers

The Peacekeepers are known as the Peoples Militia in common law, and we started with that identity.

Over time we found resistance and concern surrounding the term Militia.

In common law the Peoples Militia is a group of unarmed members of the community who come together to assist their community in times of emergency.  They are essentially keepers of the peace, so it seemed fitting to remove the obstacle of ‘milita’ and ‘rebrand’ with Peacekeeper.

Our Peacekeepers are the support team, or posse, for the sheriffs. Peacekeepers always work with the sheriffs, and the responsibility of the activity lays with the sheriffs.

Peacekeeper can be deputised for a given length of time if needed.
